Life involves carrying weight:
responsibilities, emotions, memories and the weight of our bodies. The particular way in which we carry our emotional, psychological, and existential weight forms our postural disposition. Yoga offers an archetypal framework, a revolutionary method based on universal ideals, with which one can reform, re-tune, re-calibrate, and ultimately transform themselves.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced students who wish to deepen their understanding of the connection between posture, psychology and overall perspective in life.
1. Centering techniques/measurement/proportion/cross referencing/finding the center of each part and relating them to the whole.
Focus: Standing postures.
2. Organic form/how organize oneself so that all the parts fit together/curves (bandhas) and waves in the body/curling/uncurling/reforming damaged parts/transforming posture.
Focus: Backward bends/forward bends and other round postures.
3. Physics/geometry, skillful imaging, intention, projection, and dynamic movements.
Focus: Surya Namaskar and inversions.
4. Physical origami, how the body folds/unfolds, sustainable and functional form: seated postures such as lotus/virasana/gomukhasana and bound poses and integrated shapes.
